Sunrise Animal Hospital has been caring for cherished animals in Mount Pearl, NL and surrounding communities since the 1980s. It was purchased in May 1987 by Dr. Hendrik DeZeeuw, and the company was incorporated in December of that year. Dr. Sanjay Ralhan joined the company in 1990 and in 1995 he formed a partnership with Dr. DeZeeuw. The original location of our practice was at 1 Sunrise Avenue in Mount Pearl, NL. Land was purchased at 222 Park Avenue and after the construction of the new hospital was complete, the new and improved Sunrise Animal Hospital opened for business on December 31st, 2007.

Our practice is part of a two-location hospital (St. John’s and Mount Pearl) with 64 employees, including 9 full-time veterinarians, 3 RVTs and 55 support staff. Our entire team takes pride in playing such an important role in the lives of members of our community.

Sunrise Animal Hospital is honoured to have been awarded the St. John’s Community Votes Gold Award in the Vet Clinics category in 2020. Each day, we strive to live up to our positive reputation in a community that we are proud to serve and be a part of.

As the second largest city in Newfoundland and Labrador, Mount Pearl offers all the classic charms of a Maritime community. Our people are friendly, welcoming and full of energy. Mount Pearl is often referred to as a “City Within a Park” as it is home to over 60 parks, trails and playgrounds. Just minutes from St. John’s International Airport, Mount Pearl has transformed into a hub for small businesses and larger corporations, serving as an economic gateway to the rest of the province.
